Porchetta, the dreamy sandwich

Do you know what porchetta is? Porchetta is one of the most typical foods of the Lazio region, where Rome is located.
Imagine this: a pork that has been roasted, bones removed, marinated in a mixture of herbs and spices and cut in thin slices to create the perfect sandwich.

Imagine no more, because this sandwich is real. Its name is porchetta and it’s as simple as I said: slices of this amazing pork inside a panini bread (bread will vary from place to place)

Nothing else goes inside a porchetta. You could add mayonnaise or mustard, but keep in mind that a lot of Italian places don’t have these sauces available.

Of course, you can add mayonnaise or mustard, but keep in mind that a lot of Italian places don’t have these sauces available.

Where to eat? – My favourite porchetta

My recommendation to get the perfect porchetta is Aristocampo.

What is so special about it?

Very simple! It’s delicious and they toast the bread which makes a huge difference on the sandwich, trust me.

You can find this restaurant in several places, being the local on Trastevere (Piazza della Scala, 51) my favourite one.

If by any chance you plan to come to Rome on holidays, you can get the porchetta in any cheese and charcuterie store and make your own sandwich. It’s perfect for a picnic day in one of the many parks that Rome has, especially in summer time.

Have you tried porchetta? How did you like it? Tell me 🙂
