It’s the ultimate Italian dessert and you have to try it while visiting Rome.
I’m talking about tiramisu, obviously. A dessert so classic in the entire world that sometimes gets forgotten because you can have it anywhere.
Unknown origins
Nobody knows exactly where or when this delicious recipe was invented.
Tells the story that it could be either from the region of Tuscany or Veneto and also that the recipe isn’t very antique since it can’t be found in any recipe book until 1960.
The traditional tiramisu in Rome
You can find tiramisu in several places around the city. But if you are close to Piazza di Spagna, go to Pompi. They have been making this dessert since 1960 and you will find not only the classic tiramisu, but also a lot of variation and different flavours such as pistachio, strawberry, banana and nuts.
They also serve other pastries and ice cream, but my recommendation is that you start with tiramisu. It comes in a box that you can take with you, with a spoon inside so you can either eat there or take away.
Walk around while tasting this traditional dessert and forget about the diets and restrictions… You didn’t come to Rome to keep your figure, right?
Pompi
They have several locations, look for the one closer to you!
